In a trial in France last year, trays of different origin and type were compared for the Gariguette variety. The results were spectacular. The trays from the Po-valley outperformed by far the traditional Dutch and French trays. Even the ecotrays, with a considerable lower cost, did far better than the tradiotional trays from North Europe.

The "eco" in eco tray plants refers to two important characteristics of the eco trays.

First eco trays save considerably on:
• peat use
• fertilizers
• nutrient losses to the environment
• cooling cost
• transport costs

But secondly, and of direct financial importance to the growers, the price of the ecotrays is lower than the price of the traditional tray. Because of all this, starwberries produced with ecotrays cost consideraby less than compared to other tray types: Use of trays and ecotrayplants Glasshouse production. For glasshouse production trays and ecotrays of Elsanta and Clery® are used. Generally they are planted in August in the greenhouse. Clery® ecotrays can also be planted half December to give a very early strawberry production.

60 day crops. For 60 daycrops trays and ecotrays are used of Elsanta and Arosa®. Arosa is the perfect strawberry for production in the full summer.
